The problem is that the warmists go after the wrong people.  Nobody cleans up our messes as well as the USA, we are the cleanest country in regards to pollution.  But the USA is targeted as having the deepest pockets and best capitalism, so that must be taken down several notches.  The whole ridiculous virtue signaling over banning plastic straws is an exercise in urinating into an approaching air column.  Less than 1% of the ocean plastic comes from the USA, but the enviroweenies want to mandate useless and unnecessary "cures" in order to make themselves feel better, which is really the goal, not necessarily actually accomplishing anything.  It turns out that about 90 percent of all the plastic that reaches the world's oceans gets flushed through just 10 rivers: The Yangtze, the Indus, Yellow River, Hai River, the Nile, the Ganges, Pearl River, Amur River, the Niger, and the Mekong (in that order). https://www.dw.com/en/almost-all-plastic-in-the-ocean-comes-from-just-10-rivers/a-41581484

It has become readily obvious to even the most casual of observers that the overwhelming majority comes from the dirtiest of countries in pollution generated.  But the enviroweenies don't even bother mentioning those countries.  They can't coerce massive funds out of them, so they must go after the richest Western countries, who consequently produce the least amount of pollution.  Naturally this doesn't make sense to rational people, but whoever said that the enviroweenies were rational people.
