Today's stations count from the iBiquity website is 591 stations on-air with
1005 stations licensed in the US. The most encouraging number is that more
than 2500 stations are committed to converting to HD Radio, although not all
of them have yet to purchase licenses.
I cannot speak for the other licensees, but the cost of the BE HD Radio plus
FM Exciter has remained stable over the past three years. Fire sales are not
us ;-))
