[BC] iPod and storage

Thinking of the iPod and it's clones... I just bought one for my wife. It's a
Creative "Zen" 6GB. What an amazing marvel of technology. (No wonder the
"kids" are going crazy for these things.) It must be using solid
state memory, as
I cannot detect even the slightest motor sound.

After loading all 1300+ songs from my library into it, I took it with me in
the car this morning. Using a Belkin brand FM micro transmitter that I bought
for it, I listened to it via the car radio. I also tried it on my home stereo.
Amazingly clean audio. (Most of my files are 160Kbps) Of course, I had to
modify the FM unit, because it didn't even have 4 feet of range.

Anyway, I can certainly see why these [iPod-like] things are so popular. It
is smaller than a pack of cancer sticks, and will hold about 1500 MP3 files.
(at 128Kbps) People may be thinking "Who needs radio when you have that!" This
would be especially true for those whose markets don't have any stations
playing their favorite music. (Like NYC with no Country, or most of CT with no
Christian music.)

Anyway,. time to put it back into the box and wrap it for her for Christmas.
I'm sure she will be most pleased. Now I want one!

Willie...
