LOL. Well, let me assure you, that without some type of outboard amplifier,
that little unit is not going to violate Part 15. At only 4 feet away, the
original signal was almost unusable. Now it makes it to 14 feet
before fading into
oblivion. Before modifying it, I had considerable noise in the car radio.
Unless I held the thing up by the windshield, it wasn't very listenable.
Naturally, that just wasn't going to cut it.
What I did was disconnect the original antenna wire which ran inside the
audio input cable, (all of 8" long). I then added 12" of wire to the "Antenna"
pad, and 12" from the other end of the unit, to the gound foil. It
extended the
unit's absolute range from 4 feet to about 14. Now, it can sit on the front
seat of the car and give a very clear signal to the radio. With a
range of only
14 feet, that is even less than a "Mr Microphone" that I bought when I was
younger. (It reached about 20 feet.)
So, no, there won't be any P15 violations on this new toy. Thanks for your
concern, tho.
Willie...
