There is a lot of talk about various digital transmission methods, be it
HD radio, satellite, Internet, etc... and we hear the various comments
about what doesn't seem to work so well.
I'm curious if there is something that *does* work with overall
impressive results. I know that from my perspective, we've put
together some online streams that you sit back and say "wow, that's
pretty good!" (ie live webcast of a Peter Frampton concert, with a 4
camera team and mix off the FOH PA springs to mind) and others that,
well, they got the job done (the occasional impromptu talk stream that
needs to take 40,000 listeners *right now*).
DAB using "Eureka" seems to be doing pretty well in Europe, and it looks
like broadcasters are getting behind it. In fact, it makes me wonder if
we in the US should be jealous.
Comments?
