I don't get any calls in the middle of the night and the budget allows for
just about any tools or test equipment I need to get the job done. I have
learned quite a bit of new technologies and spend 80 to 100 hours a year
professional training about 30% non technical training.

It sounds like you have a good gig there, I'm happy to hear about this.
One of the cellular people I talked to here had a similar story to radio.
With cellular consolidation, techs are getting fired and the few that are left
cover a wider territory. One paging company employee that rents our tower said
they were going through big cutbacks because the company realized that
preventive maintenance was causing more problems than it fixed. They therefore only go
out when something breaks and they have fewer people. This particular chap
was not sure if he would be one who still has a job.
