I'll don my other 'hat' for this. I have been a landlord (12 apartments in 
three buildings) for thirty years.

The best solution is to drive through the neighborhoods you find appealing 
looking for 'For Rent' signs. Or, better yet, ask folks you encounter - 
shopping, out mowing the lawn of a multi-family - if they know of anything 
for rent.

The best deals in the nicest buildings are rarely advertised.
