If only... if only...
The best possible scenario would be to move *all* non Clears from AM to the
"new FM". That way, the MW band would be put to maximum use: Long-range signals
*in analog* that will be there for news and information, especially when
disasters strike. People have plenty of battery-powered radios for AM, and that
can be a "life-saver" when the power is knocked-out, evacuation routes are being
announced, etc.
It makes far too much sense. As much as we all would love to see something
sensible like this happen, what are the chances? Not good.
