Rich Wood responded to Bob Orban..
"I agree with you in wanting clean processing. I just don't believe
it'll happen. In popular music formats it almost doesn't matter. The
CDs are already smashed and mashed before they get to us."
Can't agree more. My partner is a former top-40 DJ (before ending up in
sales) who always wants "more compression" on our light rock AC station
("I canna give you more compression Captain, the Warp engines won't stand
this strain much longer...)
The grunge was beginning to get to me, and I was sthinking aboput backing
off the Omnia. Then we started all Christmas music Thanksgiving day. Lots
of old standards--70's Carpenters. 60's. Even some stuff from the 50's and
40's (White Christmas with Bing and Gene Autry's Rudolf, recorded before I
was born. Sounded great.
