[BC] any DOS fanatics out there?

The best DOS out there is a Russian on that's mission critical certified by
their military. Missle silos in Russia run in it. That's good enough for me!
FreeDOS is pretty good too, as was DR-DOS before Novell bought it and trashed
it at the behest of Microsoft (who ripped off lots of its features - DR-DOS
had things in its V4 and 5 that Microsoft only brought out in V6, long AFTER
DR-DOS had released them.

Our voicemail system runs on 6.2. Sometimes I tinker with the idea of
putting it into a Windows 2000 or better system so that I can get some
remote access to it. Then I remember I have other projects that
probably take precedence to the tinkering. ;)
Especially since it's just so solid when left alone.
We've replaced the hardware it runs on 3 or 4 times, always with
cast-off gear that's too slow to run anything else. But considering it
started life on a 486-DX/50 with a whopping 8MB RAM, I don't think it
can complain.
