Phil,
Still got a 6BG6 aduio board pullout from the 1-T at one pla i work!
I liked the old 2-case 1F...room to work inside. Great drive levels...drove the 833-A's to 225 ma, and that allowed humongous modulation levels with very low distortion. And the RF driver tube lasted 5 years typically.
The 1-T even with 807's has been typically marginal on drive to the PA's, resulting in problems at times making good clean positive modulation. Also, tube life with 807's is bad, everyone I have seen. Tho the Chinese do not do a good job making 807's either!
RF drivers used to last not more than 6 months, and audio drives about 8 months, with the American tubes. 2-3 months with Chinese tubes.
Currently I have gone to Penta 5933 tubes for the best life...now back to the old 807 life in general in the transmitters I have supported.
In another area, KBOI in Boise, ID has a very old transmitter...which I was told still can run, tho I think it is currently disconnected, if the modern group ownership has not scrapped it. Museum piece!
