I had a different experience, and this was so many years (and owners) ago
that I think I'm safe in relaying the story now.

I had been presenting the GM with facts to encourage ownership to replace
old tube transmitter with a SS unit, and he wasn't getting very far in
making the
case with the owner. The ops manager was in agreement with us, but the owner
wasn't buying it...

Ok, owner and ops manager were in town for some budget or whatever meetings
and the GM was driving them around in company vehicle. When the subject of
new
AM transmitter somehow came up, GM punches the AM station button on the
radio
which must have been mistuned somehow previously...(wink-wink, nudge-nudge,
know what I mean) to show them just how bad the transmitter sounded.

We soon got the new Nautel. Sounded so much better to the owner on the next
trip.
I've chuckled many times over the years about this one.
