Has to do with the TSL I'd say. At first tune-in the listener wants the hot 
stuff right away. A bit later they are looking for variety. Sounds like a 
marriage, doesn't it??

A station looking for top 20 minute drive-time ratings has a short 
playlist, entertaining hosts, and/or informative news. A station looking 
for all day background play at work has just the opposite.
