That would be Paul Mauriat, who did many fine orchestrations for (and toured with)
Charles Aznavour- one of the heroes of the French Chanson movement 
(read: Edith Piaf). Love is Blue is what he is known for here. A beautiful song
that I too associate with great childhood memories.
