I did a short stint at a recording studio in San Francisco. Coast Recorders.
We were part of United Western Studios in LA. Yes, where the Beach Boys hits
were cut. Anyway, one of the first things I learned as a young lad was
cutting E.T.s. Even in 1966 ad agencies were sending out E.T.s. Well you
know the microscope that would swing over the lathe. I took some Motown
records in one day a looked at them under the microscope. WOW! Talk about
"kissing grooves". Tons of them! Yeah...loudness wars and groove distortion
goes way back.
