Yes,

BE had told me to use the bird Meter, since the one in the display in
the BE HD Transmitter was calibrated for analogue only. The bird meter
is supposed to be factory calibrated for true average power that can
accurately read the power level. At BE's suggestion, I then
re-calibrated the transmitter display, to agree with the Bird meter at
the licensed power level, however they will not track if the power goes
up or down a significant amount, because the BE Transmitter Metering is
not "true average power".

Also, I have had lightning damage problems with the bird BPM meters. I
have had to replace six of the line section electronics over the past
six months after electrical storms. None of our other equipment was
damaged. I am putting in lightning suppression on the transmission
lines. It appears that the center conductor of the transmission line is
either directly connected to, or is very closely coupled to sensitive
electronics in the BPM line section part.
