I remembering reading about a Canadian programmer that did something similar, but for a different reason.  The way I remember hearing it, he took 1 minute snippets from a single Canadian performer and made a 3 minute "song".  As a result he was able to claim 3 Canadian selections having been played under CanCon rules in effect at the time.  The loophole may have been tightened since then.  Someone having more experience north of the border might be able to enlighten us.
