Given that the satcasters are for-profit businesses, one would only hope
(for their shareholders' sakes) that they optimize their return on investment.
No one held a gun to my head to make me subscribe to DirecTV. They are not
the only game in town; DISH and Comcast cable both offer HD packages as
well; there is lively competition in this area You can be sure that all of
them are using their best business judgement to maximize their revenue and
subscriber base.
