Wow, now that I dig deep into my memory banks
it's amazing we had 70db s/n on KSFR in 1962!

Steve:
Was this figure with stereo or mono? I know about your passive
console. Studio at transmitter or on phone lines?
I built and installed lots of FM Stereo in the early '60's and I
found the two hardest specifications to make were signal to noise
specs from the microphone input channel, separation on early stereo
generators (tube type) and crosstalk mainly due to telephone
lines. I remember making the left channel at 63 dB down and the
right channel at 60.5 and I had to select 5879's to make that.
Most of my stuff was tube type. Later new Modulation monitors,
solid state consoles and especially the newer second generation solid
state stereo generators and exciters made most of the stereo
specifications easier to achieve.
