Subject: [BC] iPods, Sirius & XM
I was in a big box "general retailer" in Northeast Ohio just before
Christmas.
They were completely out of iPods.
They only had the expensive portable XM.
They had plenty of Sirius radios.
The potential customer dealing with the "sales associate" by the display
wanted an iPod.
My prediction is that Sirius will end 2005 with very roughly half as
many subscribers as XM. This represents a large percentage increase for
Sirius, since they went into the year with far fewer subscribers than XM.

Well I can tell you as a retailer in California, that Sirius and iPod are every bit sold out. The co I currently work for has the clout to obtain whatever product is chosen and iPod and Sirius have been sold out for two weeks before Christmas.
The only thing holding back the growth of iPod and Sirius product is manufacturing. I have searched
for both in all of the California outlets available for both.
Both were underproduced.
The sorry part is......more than half of Sirius customers are looking for Howard. That's all. Just Howard, they don't care about audio, channel line ups and cost is secondary, they want Howard.
Maybe the pent up demand will make for a surge, but Sirius is in (not serious, but) real trouble if they can't deliver more product before the Howard Debut.
