- Aha. I live in Monterrey, a very large city - at least 5 million - called
by Forbes Magazine "the gateway to the Americas". It is approx. 150 miles
south of Laredo, the Texas border town nearest to us. (2 hours drive).
It's a very wealthy city, main industries are beer (Carta Blanca, Bohemia,
Sol, Tecate Light, XXX, etc), steel (mainly rolling mills, the furnaces are
in nearby Monclova), cement (Apasco and Cemex, this latter being No. 3 in
the world), and glass of every kind.
