** That's true. I recall it well. Prior to the arrival of Radio London and
Radio Caroline, there was no commercial radio, and the Beeb broadcast
nothing except material for my parent's generation. It was awful.
Unlistenable.
I used to listen to Radio Luxembourg at night with its fading-in-and-out
skywave.
Then the pirate stations arrived, broadcasting rock music.
Incredible! Overnight, everyone under the age of 30 who could tune in, was
listening.
And the Beeb had to create a completely new system of radio as a result, and
then commercial radio got started, and THEN, to protect the money people,
the government suppressed the offshore stations.
