Well, I was the guy who had to come up with a way to combine the FM A&D txs 
in what I think was the first over-the-air IBOC broadcast demo, done in New 
Orleans maybe in conjunction with an NAB Fall  Radio Show close to 15 years 
ago, now.  A Harris TV tx was used for the digital part, and a 10dB hybrid, 
dummy load etc to combine it with an existing analog FM tx.  I thought at 
the time that there must be a better way to combine the two txs, but we went 
ahead with it as being expedient for the purpose.  Who'da thought we'd still 
have it around??

Of course, that version of the digital signal was many, many proponents and 
revs ago.
