In S.F. bay area, one has four 50/50 Us, soon to be five; three with 
their ground systems in salt water, and one with its ground system not 
far from salt water, soon to be two.

The latter are Salem's 1100 and 1220, and, perhaps understandably, these 
don't make the top 10 ... or the top *anything* for that matter.

But, KGO, KCBS and KNBR certainly do well as AMs, although likely KNBR 
could do much, much better if it had a more generally interesting format, 
and stopped narrow-casting with its 50/10 U sister, KTCT.

KGO as been #1 in this, the #5 market, for so long everyone has stopped 
counting.

KCBS has been solid for as long as it has been all-news.

Both are likely to remain so.
