[BC] Analog Longevity

No...2006 is the end for analog On-Star...as an owner of an '01 Caddy DHS,
that is my understanding. And FWIW the analog On-Star system was never
fully functional...we were told when we purchased the vehicle that we would
be able to make cell phone calls through the On-Star system using it's total
hands free feature...that never happened for analog users.

I understand that the GM On-Star system began with analog cellular service,
and until the older On-Star equipped vehicles bite the dust, the cellular
providers are obligated to continue the service.

Jim, many still do. The company I work for (Centennial) continues to
maintain analog equipment particularrly in rural areas. Many areas that
we serve in Louisiana have no regular telco service and many subscribers
are miles a part. Analog makes sense in that situation. However, many
carriers are reducing the amount of analog channels to make way for
newer, more efficient and more profitable platforms like GSM. And others
never had any analog channels to begin with.
