[BC] 30D transmitter...

The 30D used a pair of 2E26s in the final and a driver 2E26. The rest of
the tubes were loctals. They were very reliable and would run forever. As
I mentioned before, I modified mine to run direct FM by using a Varactor
diode on the crystal. The response capability was essentially from DC to
15 KHz keeping the modulation index at no less than 1 at the high end. The
modulation was very linear out to about 30 KHz deviation. For my purpose,
as a repeater transmitter, I was interested in the clean, flat low end and
up to 5 KHz. I drove it with a combination of Audimax and Volumax with a 5
KHz low pass filter after the Volumax. The reason for the low end was that
I was using sub-audible telemetering.
