Willie,
If I were you (and your boss too), I'd just go ahead and sign on at 6
AM and say, sc rew the interference! Let's get real, this is politics, and
you're hurting your business and regardless of what skywave is out there,
that station needs to be on, conducting business at 6 AM, at full power,
regardless of what some old-timer says that's living in the past!
The world of ipods, satellite radio, and other methods of media have
destroyed the younger generation of evening having a clue AM is out there,
and the longer you sit off in the mornings, the most important hours of the
day, your shooting yourself in the foot and loosing important dollars. It's
getting to where, people 50 and young, could care less about AM, and
why...it's this stupid crap like this sunrise/sunset interference crap,
among other problems, that looses listeners and customers.
The commission has long realized this problem and they somehow or
another feel like they have had their hands tied up because of politics. If
were going to save AM, someone in Congress needs to step up to the plate.
Otherwise, were going to have people like you, sitting there, scared to
death of even having a job at your station before it's over with.
