This thread should be renamed "The Way Engineers Oughta Look".
Why have equipment designers thrown style to the wind? Could it
be because engineers show no respect or style to the gear? When
was the last time an engineer serviced a transmitter in a custom
designed suit? Showed the equipment some respect and style?
If I showed up at a potential or existing client in unkempt fashion
the impression would not be a good one. If an account executive
appeared in my office in poor style and fashion my inclination to
sign a contract would not be positive. Nor would it be if the signal
was poor or low quality.
The point is that engineers need to show the same respect to the
equipment as we expect it to show us. You say wearing a suit isn't
appropriate because the transmitter is dirty? Why is that? Don't
believe in cleaning transmitters? How about showering? Not that
either?
Let's show some style and class ourselves. Let's motivate the
equipment designers to produce in diamonds, pearls and
high heels style just as we should appear ourselves.
