The first all news station in So. Cal was XTRA news. It predates KFWB and
KNX.

KNX had news blocks towards the end of the XTRA news period. KFWB had faded
from it's top-40 glory days (Thanks for KHJ) to what could very well have
been an early attempt at Adult Contempable.

Westinghouse purchased KFWB and within a few mothns installed the all news
format. KNX followed within about a month.

XTRA lasted a while longer.

It seems to me that this happened in aobut 1967-68. Perhaps someone can fill
in the actual dates.
