According to iBiquity's Broadcaster's marketing guide they have been
approved by the FCC as the only standard and apparently have been since 2003
if you look at the document properties.
Page 16 states
" Fortunately, the FCC has approved HD Radio technology as the single
digital broadcast system for the U.S. which conveys a sense of credibility
and self investment in its future.
Now that the industry has FCC approval, it is certainly in everyone's
interest - broadcasters, retailers and manufacturers alike- to educate and
promote the HD Radio technology aggressively......... FCC approval also
helps to remove consumer resistance to the new format there is no fear of
being orphaned by obsolete technology....."
Get your own copy and look on page 16.

If you just open it up on line and check the document information you will
note that it was both created and modified on 9/23/2003 at 10:44:40 PM so as
usual iBiquity is feeding the broadcasters half truth and lies just as it
did when it was USADR. Struble, Stull and company will do anything to order
to confuse broadcasters and mislead them into adopting their system.
I noted with interest that had several folks on the NAB show floor tell me
HD Radio had received FCC approval. When in fact what had happened in April
was that NTSC has accepted it as the US Digital standard. Again the iBiquity
BS machine doing the shuck and jive.
With this type of misleading marketing and promotion how can anyone expect
broadcasters to make an informed decision.
There is no broadcaster protection organization like a consumer protection
agency,oh excuse me there is NAB ;- ) Like I said there is no unbiased group
like a consumer watch dog to advise broadcasters and God knows The
industries main trade pub is a far cry from an unbiased investigative
newspaper.
So broadcaster have no one to be an unbiased guide. The average station
owner does not have the time because they are too buys trying to run the day
to day business of radio, nor do they have technical knowledge to figure it
all out so they are being suckered in by the Smoke and Mirror game of
iBiquity and rolled over by the iBiquity steamroller.
Those who most likely have figured iBiquity out are now to far into the
dance to stop dancing. They would have major Egg on their face if they stood
up now, pulled their support and called it for what it is and God forbid
they should have egg on their face. So instead they will sacrifice an
industry with what will prove to be obsolete millstone around its neck and
somehow rationalize and justify the decision so that on those rare
occasions, when what little conscious they have rears its ugly head, they
can live with their decision.
In the words of Rich at KRDE in his earlier post
"As a former IC design manager at Motorola, the plan Ibiquity is passing off
is no more than the reworked 20 year old ATT IBAC system.
We worked with them for several years. It was indeed like working with the
mob. Big bucks, big egos and a total lack of ethics. I wanted to take a
shower after the meetings."

And this company and "its" technology ladies and gentlemen, is now going to
be Radio's new bed partner.
Oi Vey!
