First, I wish to point out that all the above terms refer to the same
thing: an air terminal, of one geometrical form or another, having many
sharp needles. They look as if they were all inspired by the East Indian
"Fakir Bed of Nails"! Those nails pose no discomfort to lightning as it
has been proven that it repeatedly terminates on them!
I wrote two papers on this topic, the first of which is at
www.oldradio.com/Mousa.pdf (it is just under 2 MB).
Do not be fooled by the title: the paper discusses the case of
telecommunication towers even though its title speaks of power
systems. The second paper will follow under a separate cover.
