The Jean Airport is part of the Clark county aviation department. No tower,
Nice little strip, lots of glider work on the east side. Parking for others
on the west side. Gas by credit card, unmanned and no other services. At
least one sky diving group flies out of there and the Metro police/Clark
County sheriff has a substation there. It's even got a paved sidewalk to
the nearest casino (1 of the 2 in Jean). From there you can catch a shuttle
into LV. I don't know what they do about tie down fees, but a lot of folks
land there and take the shuttles into town to avoid the restricted airspace
around LAS. It's identified as 0L7, located about 10 miles from the
California border. The CHP airplanes that fly that route, fuel in Jean.
My CAP squadron meets at Henderson Airport. It's to close to the
restricted air space. The presidential guys decided Jean would be better as
it's another 30+ miles south
