Harkening back to my cable days, a lot of people didn't care to subscribe
because of what they considered "immoral" programming not suitable for children.
They were referring to the Premium channels such as HBO. Many also realized
there were religious stations, Nickelodeon for the kiddies, news channels such
as CNN, and educational fare such as Discovery. But those "dirty movies"
came over the same wire. Explaining HBO is an extra charge service didn't
matter. It's on the same cable wire. They didn't want it.
Recent articles by doomsayers who say people are being turned off by radio
could be talking to those who don't want to listen to Stern, so they ignore
radio. Hmm. Could Stern's move to satellite attract some folks back to radio
knowing they won't stumble across his show?
Naw.
AF would be a better place to continue this conversation.
