Willie:
Welcome to the Meadowlands! Or, as Springsteen put it, "The swamps of
Jersey."
What was once an idyllic tidal marsh, now home to a plethora of
highways and abandoned railroad lines, mountains of buried waste,
more than a few unidentified bodies, and a sprinkling of radio stations.
And some of the biggest swamprats you've ever seen (could it be all
that RF?).
:-)
Since you've already been introduced to WMCA/WNYC's little
encampment, grab you favorite beverage, sit back and cruise the
following locations (as usual, mind the wrap):
1010 WINS:

You can see the piers for their old in-line array. The new one is a
quadrilateral.
This is WOR. Not sure of the status of relocation of their new array.
I'm sure if we ask nicely Tom Ray will tell us where they are moving.

I BELIEVE this is 1190, WLIB
<http://maps.google.com/maps?
ll=40.796270,-74.100723&spn=0.007703,0.008175&t=k&hl=en>
And I think this is WSNR 620 (someone please correct me.)
<http://maps.google.com/maps?
ll=40.798845,-74.106828&spn=0.007703,0.008175&t=k&hl=en>
WBBR (nee WNEW) 1130:
<http://maps.google.com/maps?
ll=40.810969,-74.039912&spn=0.007703,0.008175&t=k&hl=en>
WADO 1280:
<http://maps.google.com/maps?
ll=40.826397,-74.076004&spn=0.007703,0.008175&t=k&hl=en>
WKDM 1380:
<http://maps.google.com/maps?
ll=40.820217,-74.068011&spn=0.007703,0.008175&t=k&hl=en>
WWRL 1600:
<http://maps.google.com/maps?
ll=40.795369,-74.053785&spn=0.007703,0.008175&t=k&hl=en>
WZRC 1480:
<http://maps.google.com/maps?
ll=40.844840,-74.019849&spn=0.007703,0.008175&t=k&hl=en>
And WEPN 1050:
<http://maps.google.com/maps?
ll=40.806849,-74.070178&spn=0.007703,0.008175&t=k&hl=en>
Totally blocked in by asphalt! (Continental Airlines Arena just to
North, Giants Stadium to the Northwest, Meadowlands horse track north
of that.)
You can see why many refer to the Meadowlands as "RF Alley." Who did
I leave out?
Oh, yeah...Technically, not exactly in the Meadowlands, but close by,
WABC 770:

ll=40.880384,-74.068998&spn=0.007703,0.008175&t=k&hl=en>
BTW, one of those buildings along the highway is a strip club that
you may know as the Sopranos' "Bada-Bing"...
Hope you enjoyed the tour!
