The final was a 3CX2500, and yeah, a pair of 4-1000a's. Beauties, they were, 
to behold. ;)

Ours had similar modulation characteristics, which were slightly improved by 
our former Engineer. He and I also did a major upgrade by replacing those 
4-1000's with a pair of 4CX3000's. No more pretty glow, but the improvement in 
modulation was quite a disappointment! It did save us a few $$, tho, in that we 
weren't replacing those 1000's every year!
