Thankfully I have never had the distress of working on a Lil' Rascal.  I 
have worked on several AM & FM transmitters using 5CX1500 tubes and ALL of 
them have been a nightmare.  The old Collins 1.5kw(?) FM that WDXE had 
onair for years could have been used as a marker generator up and down the 
FM band.  Various CCA's using 5CX1500's as drivers ate tube sockets on a 
fairly regular basis.  I now do emergency work on a couple of CCA 20k FM 
transmitters for an old engineer friend.  The only emergency that usually 
requires my help is the @%$^@$% 5CX1500 driver section.

I guess I came along after the last good 5CX1500 was built...
