[BC] 802A series regulator failure

Regarding the Continental 802A exciter losing the series regulator,
there is a fix for that and it is easy to see if it was installed on your
exciter.

Remove the top cover and look at the big fat filter capacitor for
the power supply.  Mounted on it should be a huge Zener diode.

If it is there you should have no problems.  

If it is not there you should call Bill at Continental Electronics and
tell him you need the "overvoltage kit."

I think the usual failure mode, by the way, was to have the regulator
open up.  This of course is just as aggravating.
