That "ka-ka" excuse was just that... an excuse. The station never said the
calls in Spanish, and limited the use to the hourly ID in English. But they
got the 3-letter call back.

By that time, KHJ was Spanish language. For a while,
it had the call "KKHJ", but that pronounced in Spanish
sounded like "Kah-Kah..." which means....the same in
Spanish as it does in English....So the FCC let KHJ
have its old call back.
Or so I've been told.

I'm sure that played into it, but a certain CE whose last name eludes me
(Radio Jerry he called himself), also made a campaign of restoring the
original three letter calls as a matter of pride for the station and a bow
to its past.
