[BC] Where did it go?

The year, I mean.

Welcome to November.

This is the BROADCAST list, and just a quick note to say thanks to
all those who participate and share your thoughts and experience.

Please note that as much as 85-90% of all email at some servers (AOL
reported this last week, for example) is spam. The filters are
getting more picky and email is sometimes delayed or lost.

The biggest problem on the list is when someone who is not subscribed
sends a post, and then wonders why the post takes so long. The
majority of cases are due to the poster not being subscribed. Some
days I can find and "clear" things faster than others.

Another problem that has popped up this past month is that many juno
addresses are caught and labelled "spam" somewhere along the road. I
am trying to figure out a way to deal with this, but it is a
problem. There is also a server in the NE that likes to label things
"bulk" ... In these cases, if you see these in the subject
line, please delete them.

Why? Because many of the filters in mail readers and servers are of
the type that "learns" over time. If we send posts through the list
with "spam" and "bulk" and "test" on them, the filters "learn" and
then block everything from the list. Accordingly, I have had to block
those three words from subject lines.

One other question I will note this month. Some of you have noticed
that the headers show the posts come from
"broadcast-bounces at radiolists.net" ... this has nothing to do with
real bouncing email. It is a term that mailman uses. I've asked
Chris if we can change it, but so far, have not been able to do
anything with it. If any of you have experience with mailman and can
help, please let me know.

Thanks for being part of the BROADCAST group!
