FYI Folks. Looks like the big boys are trying to play rough when
protecting their content. This was picked up from our University list
serve.

Quick summary, the newest Sony attempt at DRM on audio cd's, at least on Van
Zant's "Get right with the Man" and probably most others from Sony, installs
a "rootkit" that attempts to hide itself from detection and intercepts all
calls to the cd drive of your PC. The rootkit appears to have several
vulnerabilities in and of itself and these are introduced even on a fully
patched and secured windows system.
Mark Russinovich at Sysinternals.com has all the details about this rootkit
and the problems he had in removing it, after discovering it, there is also
a short article at f-secure.
