Since it is a digital phenomena, bi-valued, and abrupt changes, must have been the reflections of early IBOC comming back to haunt us!
 
Seriously, we need to look for something in a switching mode.  And hefty enough to affect a wide area.  It as I saw it was a regular switching effect.  And broadband enough to affect all frequencies on the FIM.
