NOt only Radio Shack, But Walmart, Best buy and other places. You can even
purchase them on line.Google for "NOAA Weather Radios"

Be sure you get one that can be set for your county's alert codes.

Are those radios still available @ Radio Shack? What is the model number?

  >Of course. But just as the radio industry
  resisted buying EAS boxes, consumers
have been VERY slow to buy the
  existing receivers.

But the weather radios are cheep. I have seen them as low as $15 at flea
markets. I got my super-dyna-whopping model at Radio Shack for $35 where
I
can program my county in and it only responds to that one. What's more
important, lottery tickets, cigarettes and a six pack, or a radio that
could
possibly save your life? It all comes down to choices. If I found myself
in the unfortunate position of living in a mobile home, I'd have a NOAA
  radio in EVERY room!

  >On the other hand, there are plenty of
  cell phones on hand!

That's a great idea. Or, you could use both NOAA radios augmented by cell
  phones augmented by broadcast stations.
