I believe your predictions will come true. That's why I propose to 
begin fixing AM HD Radio right now so we'll be ready to counter 
Mediaflo and localized satellite radio.

I want us to petition the FCC to allow AM HD for nighttime operation 
immediately so we can begin fixing the problems by making whatever 
pattern/power adjustments we'll need to make before it reaches 
unmanageable levels. If we wait until most stations light up the FCC 
will want a bigger piece of our hide. The new Commissioner comes from 
Telco regulation. I worked for IDT, a major long distance carrier. A 
telco regulator lives in fear of anything that isn't regulated.

I believe all media is in store for significant reregulation, 
primarily based on indecency complaints from organized groups. I also 
believe that the satellite services will have to give up their 
freedom from indecency restrictions to get local access. Once that 
happens, premium cable can't be far behind.
