[BC] technical difficulties with automation

Couple of thoughts, top of my head....
Remember sec tones on carts... fired off the next event, while the previous
one played out? We still use the same concept on some digital automation
systems, and I've screwed up the decimal point sometimes... put the tone at
00:10 seconds instead of 01:00 minute, which means the second spot overlaps
the first for :50 seconds.
On my system, when spot files are playing, it's supposed to mute the
satellite, then unmute at the end of the break. Key words are "supposed
to"... if the mutes screw up, then we get two things on the air at once.
doesn't happen often, but happened last night. Maybe whatever you've got is
contageous ;-(

What would cause a station like WBZ, for example, to have a
