I think you are trying to compare apples to oranges.

If you suspect the 9100 is at fault, get a loaner processor and pull out 
the 9100 with the specific purpose to go through it using the manual's 
suggested procedures to debug/troubleshoot.  It is highly probable one of 
the band VCA's is not behaving correctly and the only way to properly fix 
the problem is to go through it.
