New York is the least creative and least risk taking market I've ever 
worked in. That's because the risks are so great. If you lose a 
position in the market it's extremely hard to get it back. It seems 
when you take a risk you get punished. WCBS-FM is a perfect example, 
though I think that was a dumb risk for a station that owned the 
market for its format. WNEW has taken the "format du jour" crown that 
used to belong to WPIX. Nothing seems to work.

It's a little unfair to compare a station with satellite. They have 
so much turf to play with that even a SIRIUS risk won't have much 
impact, other than spending money like drunken soldiers.
