I don't believe you're wrong. I've heard the impending problem on a 
small scale in the 2 hours between sunset and shutdown. Once all 
stations are lit up you'll hear an unlistenable AM band.

If the reduction of power or realignment of directional arrays won't 
help we're screwed. I don't understand why these solutions won't work 
other than the enormous effort needed to completely redesign the 
offending sites. That's why I suggest that nighttime operation be 
allowed now before the problem becomes overwhelming.
