The Earthmate receiver is about $100 and each TopoQuad state is 
$100.00  For around $300.00 you can get everything you need.  Make sure you 
use TopoQuads and not just Topo Maps such as those supplied with 
TopoUSA.  If you can run them, get the DVD version.  You would most likely 
spend more than that on just paper maps for a typical proof.
