From the listening I've been doing with an IBUZ receiver it's clear
there's no standard. Most appear to be feeding both with the same
signal, delaying the analog at the same level as analog. Mode
switching is virtually undetectable. I'm told the digital should be
much better. It isn't. In one case I'll bet the station was set up
using the muddy car receiver of the GM which resulted in an
incredibly screechy high end in digital.
At this point in time there's a lot of mode switching in my market
Even more in Boston. If they sounded dramatically different it would
do little more than irritate listeners.
