I have mixed feelings about that. I take some comfort in knowing 
that, as soon as I become a billionaire, they'll care about me. It 
gives me the strength to carry on. It gives me comfort to know that, 
one day, I'll be able to move to safe ground in Beverly Hills or 
Georgetown and FEMA will be ready with whatever help I need even 
before I call. I will admit that FEMA badgered me after 9/11 because 
I was so close to Ground Zero. They were offering a replacement air 
conditioner. Trouble was I didn't own the old one. That was before 
Homeland Security took them over and the horse trader ran it.

I already know to stay away from the little town that voted the 
religious wacko politicians out over creationism or San Francisco 
where they displayed gay flags. Even bought and paid for politicians 
can't overrule Pat Robertson's predictions of abandonment by God.

I sleep soundly knowing that my government is waiting to help, for a 
price, and that there are plenty of lobbyists who can lead me, for a 
price, to those who will accept my money and do my bidding. It also 
helps to wear after shave that smells of petroleum. Eau de Petrol can 
be had at any of the government building newsstands.

I also find great peace in the permanence of the Patriot Act. Running 
one's own life can get very tiring after a while. It's always good 
when you can go to a book of rules and not have to think for 
yourself. We didn't really need those rights, anyway. How often did 
you use them?

I've worked for several multinational corporations. They're kind, 
sensitive, selfless organizations made up of people just like us. 
They were us when I was there. Halliburton, Bechtel, Enron, Worldcom, 
et al, were (are) examples of what mankind can do. I'm disappointed 
in myself for having doubted their devotion to the best interests of 
the little guy.
